POPULAR Indian film star Kamal Haasan will lead a bevy of stars from Kollywood for the South Indian Cinematographers Association (SICA) Awards show in Stadium Negara tomorrow.
The 60-year-old star will be seen on the silver screen this year in Uttama Villain, Papanasam and Vishwaroopam 2.
Several film directors, music directors, singers, producers, television artistes, cameramen are also expected to attend the show.
Among them will be Sarath Kumar, Suriya, Vikram, Sathyaraj, Prasanth, Arjun, Madhavan, Mohan, Simbu, Vishal, Arya, Danush, Karthi Sivakumar, Bharath, Srikanth, and Sivakarthikeyan.
Kamal Haasan’s daughter, Shruthi, will also be there as well as Meena, Mumtaz, Tammanah, Hanshika, Lakshmi Menon, Ramya Nambeesan, sisters Thulasi and Karthika Nair and their mother Radha.
Others to be present are Anjali, Kushboo, Nayanthara, Shreya, Priyamani, Reema Sen, Amala Paul, Ananya and Gayathri Raghuram.
Among the performers will be actors Vimal, Nazzer, Ganesh Venkatraman, Karuna, Mayilswamy, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Jayam Ravi and Vinay and actresses Oviya, Dhansika, Madhushalini, Rai Lakshmi, Sunnaina, and Iniya.
The directors who have confirmed their attendance include R.K. Selvamani, Chitra Lakshman, Bharathi Raja, Manobala, Parthiban, Ameer, Venkat Prabhu, S J Surya, Lingusamy and S.A. Chandrasekhar while the music directors are Haris Jayaraj, Vijay Anthony, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Devi Sri Prasad, Gana Bala and Devanesan.
The singers include Krish, Premji Amaran, Andrea,Yesudas Vijay and Sriram
The two shows are jointly organised by the Kassim Chin Humanity Foundation and the Malaysian Indian Sports and Cultural Foundation (MISCF), two non-profit non-governmental organisations.
This is the first time that the SICA Awards is being held outside India and Astro has been given the responsibility of selecting six locals who have contributed to Malaysian entertainment to be honoured.
The awards aims to promote unity among cinematographers and provide welfare assistance to their families.
SICA also promotes transfer of knowledge to young and upcoming cameramen and technicians.
In the spirit of the SICA Awards, the foundation and MISCF will also contribute a portion of the proceeds from the show to flood victims in Malaysia.
The SICA Awards is decided by an eminent panel of jury and is managed by cinematographers who are held in high esteem by the industry.
The show is managed by Stoneevents and co-sponsored by Malaysia Major Events, Marigold, Astro and THR.
